Buffalo National River and NW Arkansas
After the remnants of hurricane Ike blew through, the road was blocked by multiple downed trees so there was nowhere to go. My customary morning and evening trips to the Boxley valley were trumped by the weather.

We have a strong runoff area out back in the Ponca Wilderness so I decided to take a nice hike. It was a welcome break from working the valley day after day. These images are typical of the post-downpour photos to be had. The rocky soil and solid rock plates around here create a lot of runoffs and reflecting pools. Another great area of exploration for any photographer.

It was kind of nice to break up my routine and  take some pictures of different kinds of subjects without a plan.

Usually I am pretty deliberate about what I am going for, on Sunday after Ike hit, I just travelled light and took what came.
