Cabin Fever
It has been a few days now since I have been able to get out and do some shooting, and it is making me stir crazy. Hurricane Gustav pushed a huge amount of rain into NW Arkansas and we are really just saturated right now. We have probably had something close to 6 inches of rain or more this month so far, at least here. With this early, strong wet period, I really look forward to the fall color waterfall season.

Most ways this has been an unusual summer. Generally by now we are pretty parched and are emerging from the dog days of August. August was cooler than normal, and much wetter. The accounts for the early emergence of fall color no doubt. At least here on top of Gaither mountain, many trees are turning, led by the dogwoods. Nothing is ever certain about fall color predictions, but my guess is that we will be earlier than normal this year, and perhaps this will be an exceptionally long color season. This is speculation because only one good frost and a hard wind storm and color season can be abruptly cancelled.

Egret & 7x6 Bull Elk

Turned out to be egret day. Lots of shots. Also, big 7x6 bull has appeared with herd just past the observation pullout. Enjoy.
