Buffalo National River and NW Arkansas
Not much time to write today, but nothing much to report either. After the hard flooding due to Ike, the valley is returning to normal. I expect the early rut behavior to be evident by the weekend, and good elk viewing is likely as we enter fall weather. There are a lot of variables, but they point to a great weekend.
Today I toured the valley looking for photo ops. Not much doing, I got going late due to work on the house in preparation for the Ozark Mountain Artists Studio Tour that is this weekend.
For the second day I have seen whitetail bucks running all around. Looks like to me that they are entering the rut too. We had such a relatively cool summer that all the fall dynamics are underway. I think the ruts are running early just like the fall color.
I won a small photo contest (200 entries) with my salvaged egret photo. Shows you how a pretty good composition can trump focus if you fiddle with it. I was pleasantly surprised to win. These things are hard to figure.
Here are today's photos.
