Buffalo National River and NW Arkansas
This morning the elk were in the same field they have been in for days. Just about a half mile south of the Ponca access. They will probably be there tonight.

As has been the case the last few days, the fog was astonishing. I decided to riverwhack in to one of the crossing areas with no significant result. Not sure it is worth it for regular people. Sat around for about an hour and a half with no real keepers.

My best pictures this morning were of cows. They apparently were fleeing the central valley area and attempting to live as elk. The "dare to be an Elk" workshop migrated right past me. Somehow, like the weather, the cows could sense today's losses on Wall Street and were preparing for the coming hard times. See pictures below.  Also caught a brief elk crossing in all the confusion.

Kind of painterly, probably one I could sell. Some kind of photoshop heroics. Fog is really a soft "screen" that can be overcome by duplicating the original in a new layer and using "multiply", adjusting transparency, and masking.
This is a slightly different version of what I started with. How 'bout that, eh? Photoshop rules. The amazing thing is that all the colors and detail is there to bring up. These foggy days yield paintings with a little work.

"Dare to Be Elk" workshop tours the banks of the Buffalo National River as instructor gives pointers in migrating along the river banks.
Workshop participants pause for refreshments and contemplate the life of the elk. "Livin' the Dream". A bored participant eyes me suspciously, thinking "looks like food guy".
